Image Tools

Image Tools (/tools) are one-off utilities for quickly touching up a single image, separate from cards. You can erase or swap a background, sharpen and enlarge a blurry image, and create stickers from a prompt alone.

💡 Who is this for? Anyone who wants to cleanly erase just the background of a product photo, anyone who needs to enlarge a low-resolution image for printing, or anyone who needs small graphic elements to place on a card.

ℹ️ Visibility condition — Image Tools appear as the Image Tools tab in the header only in environments where the operations setting (STUDIO_TOOLS_ENABLED) is turned on. If it is off, visiting /tools sends you back to the intro screen (/). If you don't see it, contact your administrator.

Studio Image Tools: cutout, background replace, upscale, and object generation

1. Screen layout

AreaRole
Left — Tool listCards for the 4 tools. Click to select
Center — RunUpload image → enter parameters → run → result
Bottom — Recent resultsA strip where the results you just created automatically pile up

2. Common workflow

Every tool works the same way.

  1. Select a tool — Click the tool card you want on the left.
  2. Upload an image — Drag a photo into the "Drag an image or click to upload" area, or click to choose one. (On upload it is automatically shrunk to a suitable size to speed up processing.) To swap it out, use Change Image.
    • Object Generation has no upload step, since it creates from a prompt alone without an image.
  3. Enter parameters — Depending on the tool, enter a new background description, an upscale factor, and so on. (See the per-tool descriptions below.)
  4. Run — The job is added to the queue. If there are jobs ahead of yours, it shows "Waiting · N ahead"; when it's about to start, "Waiting · Starting soon"; and then a "Processing…" progress indicator appears.
  5. Check the result — Transparent backgrounds are rendered over a checkerboard, and you can compare Original ↔ Result. Save it with Download PNG, or pass it straight to another tool with Continue with this result.

ℹ️ Prompts for Background Replace and Upscale are automatically converted into English prompts even if you write them in Korean before processing. Results are also saved automatically to 'My Work' ("The result has been saved to 'My Work'.").

3. The 4 tools

✂️ Background Removal (Cutout) — remove_bg

Keep only the product, on a transparent background

  • Input: 1 image
  • Output: A transparent-background PNG with only the subject cut out
  • Use: When you want to erase the background from a product photo to cleanly place it on a card, sticker, or detail page

🖼️ Background Replace — product_bg

Keep the product, change only the background to a new scene

  • Input: 1 image + a new background description (required)
  • Parameter: New background descriptione.g., a bright marble kitchen, soft natural light
  • Output: An image where the subject is kept and only the background is changed
  • Use: When you want to stage the same product in various moods (kitchen, outdoors, studio, etc.)

ℹ️ If you run it with the background description empty, the notice "Enter a background prompt." appears.

🔍 Upscale — upscale

Sharpen resolution by 2–4×

  • Input: 1 image + an upscale factor
  • Parameter: Upscale factor — 2× or 4× (default 4×)
  • Output: An image with higher resolution and greater sharpness
  • Use: When you want to enlarge a low-resolution or blurry image for printing or large screens

🧩 Object Generation — object_gen

4. Reusing results — chaining · inserting into a card

Chaining — to the next tool without downloading

When you press Continue with this result on the result screen, the result you just created immediately becomes the input for the next job. For example, you can run Cutout (Background Removal) → Upscale in one continuous flow without downloading and re-uploading.

Inserting into a card

  • Tool results are saved to 'My Work'. Open the item from the 'My Work' panel in the editor to bring up the modal viewer, then use Insert into Card to place it on the current card ("Added to the card. Adjust its position/size on the canvas.").
  • For detailed editing, see Creating Cards & Card Series.

5. Recent results strip

The Recent results strip at the bottom of the screen automatically accumulates the results you just created.

  • You can view and download them again even after switching tools or refreshing the page.
  • To start a new job, press New Job; to return to the initial state, press Start Over.

6. Pricing · Free usage

  • Image Tools (Cutout, Background Replace, Upscale, Object Generation) are processed on our own GPUs and do not deduct tokens (free).
  • However, accounts without a license also draw from the daily free generation count (a combined total across card creation, image tools, and object generation; 10 by default, reset every midnight KST).
  • When you exceed it, the notice "You've used up all of today's free generations. Please try again tomorrow." appears.
  • License (subscription) accounts get unlimited use + priority queue processing. For details, see Introduction · Getting Started.

💡 Troubleshooting (FAQ)
